You Won’t Believe…
…the success of our events to date and the line-up of events we have planned for throughout the year. The Launch Party, the FELT Launch Party and our first charity event of the year have all been sell-out events. This MTSG calendar year is proving to be particularly adventurous and I have every confidence that the ambitious and hard-working committee will deliver nothing but exciting and unique events to our members and sponsors. Aside from our social and FELT events, we have had a great number of people signing up to the MTSG Ski Trip in January, the Ball Directors are well underway planning the MTSG Winter Ball and we’re even hosting an Inter-JLD Sports Day, competing against a number of Junior Lawyer Division groups in various sports.
The One and Only...MTSG Winter Ball
Thursday 24 November marks the return of the MTSG’s annual Winter Ball, being the perfect evening to kick-start the festive celebrations. This year’s revelries are taking place at the beautiful Hallé St Peter’s, a Grade 2 listed deconsecrated church located in the Ancoats area of Manchester – the perfect setting for a winter wonderland! The event is kindly sponsored by QED Legal, Workshare and Slater Heelis LLP, who are working closely with the Ball Directors, Charlotte King, Nikki Hussey and Aisling Bassett in order to make sure the event is bigger, better and more magical than ever before! Glitter, laser shows and LED light up entertainment are but a few of the surprises we have set for you on the night. Tickets are on sale until Thursday 10 November. If you have not already purchased your ticket, please contact Aisling.Bassett@Laytons.com to be in with a chance of securing a place at what is set to be a fantastic evening.
The MTSG Launch Party at stunning new venue, Menagerie was a huge success, with over 180 trainee solicitors, paralegals and newly-qualified solicitors attending. There were acrobats and entertainers, surprises, and plenty of food and drink (Nutella and marshmallow doughnuts being a firm favourite). Everyone had a great time catching up with colleagues and friends, making new contacts, and speaking with our wonderful sponsors, BCL Legal. The next MTSG social event, sponsored by BCL Legal, is scheduled for Thursday 3 November – please keep an eye on your emails for further information from our General Secretaries.
The FELT Launch, sponsored by Sacco Mann at The Red Door was a great success and really highlighted what a fantastic diary of events are lined up for this year! Many new FELT members attended the event, and so the year ahead is looking very promising. Next up in the FELT calendar we have a fantastic Wine Tasting event in December (venue TBC), which will be sponsored by Hays Recruitment. This will be an evening allowing the FELT members to become a bit more knowledgeable in the art of fine wines, and will also provide great networking opportunities.
In January we have an event organised at JunkYard Golf (Piccadilly), sponsored by G2 Legal. This will be a ‘less boozy’ event for those who want an evening of mingling and networking, although there will be an opportunity for a few drinks at the fantastic bar located in the centre of the crazy golf course! Late February will show a great cocktail making session with Anakin Seal (venue TBC) and in March we have organised a night at Bingo Bongo with Think Legal – also promising to be a great night. April shows a Gin Tasting session with BCL Legal (again – venue TBC), which will be shortly followed by a Rum Trail around Manchester with Sacco Mann, bringing an end to what will be a fantastic FELT year!
Inter-JLD Sports Day
Sports Directors, Catherine Anderson and Neil Munford are in the process of organising a huge sporting event, which will be followed by a social event for the MTSG and similar organisations located in the North of England. We anticipate on having 100+ participants from the MTSG and Junior Lawyer Division groups all competing in Manchester in Spring 2017. Watch this space for further details over the coming months.
MTSG’s charity fundraising got off to a pampering start on Wednesday 19 October at the Clarins Concession within House of Fraser, Deansgate. Due to the success of the event and a demand for more tickets, our Charities Director, Heena Kapadi has various charity related events/activities in the pipeline. In addition to raffling off some outstanding prizes at our annual MTSG Winter Ball on Thursday 24 November, other events in the pipeline include completing the Yorkshire Three Peaks, a cycle-a-thon and MTSG’s first ever charity fashion show. We look forward to raising as much as we can throughout the course of this year and we know we can always count on the excellent support of our members to support the very-deserving, Forever Manchester and Save the Children.
