MTSG News – February
January Blues Social
On 25th January 2018 MTSG hosted their annual ‘January Blues’ event, which was kindly sponsored by BCL Legal. Held at the highly entertaining venue of Roxy Ball Room on Deansgate, attendees were able to participate in games of pool, ping pong and ‘beer pong’ on the evening, as well as enjoy a range of yummy food and drink. Despite the high levels of ‘friendly competitiveness’ present at certain points of the night, a fantastic night was had by all. Make sure to keep a look out for details of the up-coming February ‘Inter-Professional Event’ which will be circulated to members over the next couple of weeks. A highlight of the networking social calendar, this event is a great chance to meet young professionals from a range of sectors across the city including banking, surveying and accountancy as well as a wider range of people from the legal profession.
FELT – Escape Rooms
MTSG FELT members were treated to a night of fun on 1st February 2018 when they took a trip to the ‘Escape Rooms’. Kindly sponsored by G2 Legal, the night saw attendees working together to solve a number of thought-provoking and interesting puzzles to escape from a locked room. Luckily all members managed to escape within the time limit and no-one was left ‘locked in’!
The next FELT event is to be held on Thursday 1st March at Whistle Punks Urban Axe Throwing in the Northern Warehouse. The event, which is to be kindly sponsored by Think Legal Recruitment, is set to be a sell-out – further details of the event and how to secure a ticket will be released shortly.
With qualification dates growing ever closer for second year trainees, planning of the annual ‘NQ Talks’ hosted jointly by the MTSG and recruiters is well under way. These events are a great opportunity to meet with recruiters and discuss your role as a NQ solicitor, and obtain advice to help make sure you make the right decision in choosing a NQ role. This year, NQ talks will be held by BCL Legal, Realm and Think Legal. Details of the first NQ event, which is to be hosted by BCL Legal and will be held in late March 2018, will be circulated amongst members over the next few weeks.
We are looking for MTSG members to volunteer to give a presentation at BPP on 7th March 2018 at workshops focusing on interview skills, presentation skills and psychometric testing. If you are available on this date, and interested in getting involved, please do not hesitate to contact Riz or Laura, the MTSG Education Directors (Rizwana.email@example.com; firstname.lastname@example.org) for more information.
